Our Background
Bon Bon Engineering is an Agro-Engineering startup operating in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Our focus is on the sustainable production of green chemicals, starting with bioethanol, purified carbon-dioxide, and fertilizer for various industries. Our aim is to expand the South African green chemical market to include the manufacture of industrial solvents, polymers, construction materials and fine chemicals using a combination of biological and chemical process routes.
Our startup was founded out of need. The South African sugarcane industry has been on a decline for more than 2 decades, with a loss of over 60% of cane farmers and 45% of other sugar industry related jobs. There is an increasing demand for renewable, bio-based and green products. The growth of our business will therefore promote growth in the green economy.
OUR PRODUCTS
Products in Development
96% Ethanol
Initial solvent production will include crude 96% ethanol for industrial and fuel use, and 96% extra-neutral-alcohol (ENA) for potable, cosmetic or extractive purposes. Contact us for custom blends and denatured products.
>99% Carbon-Dioxide
Our >99% Carbon dioxide is produced from the fermentation off-gas and is dehydrated and scrubbed for applications in the food and beverage and welding gas industries.
Fertilizer
Our Vinasse concentrate is high in nitrogen and phosphorus and has a high biological loading, suitable for various crops. Contact us for more information and custom concentrate options.
